Hazardous Waste

What counts as hazardous waste?

Waste is considered hazardous when it contains properties that are explosive, oxidising, highly flammable, irritant, toxic, corrosive or carcinogenic. It includes all toxic chemicals, radioactive material and biological or infectious waste. Elements found in these can threaten the public, either through occupational exposure or through exposure in the home, community and general environment. Exposure to these items can occur as they are created, as they are transported or near where they are ultimately disposed of.

Recycool Waste UK is fully compliant with all rules and regulations associated with the disposal of controlled waste. Our technical department will help you meet disposal regulations and complete all necessary compliance documentation. You can be certain that your obligations to the law are met. We are fully licenced to organise the safe disposal of ALL types of hazardous waste, including:

  1. Paints/Thinners

  6. Air filters/oil filters
  7. Aerosols
  8. Japanese Knotweed
  9. Drums
  10. IBCs

If you're not sure whether the waste you want to dispose of is hazardous or not, we can arrange to have it tested to determine this. Disposing of hazardous waste involves adhering to all sorts of guidelines - we can take care of all of this for you.

One of the most common types of hazardous waste we have to deal with is asbestos. Unfortunately, it was widely used as a building material in the UK from the 1950s until the mid-1980s, with the sale and use of asbestos-containing products finally prohibited only in November 1999, so a large proportion of homes in the UK today quite possibly contain some asbestos. If the building you are in was built after 2000 it should contain no asbestos.
